Jim is a native of Southwest Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1997. In 2001, he earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law. Jim was admitted to practice in Georgia in 2001 and has been with the firm since that time.
At Evert Weathersby Houff, Jim has practiced primarily in the areas of products liability, toxic torts, and property damage litigation. He has participated in the development and implementation of national defense strategy for numerous clients, including coordinating and managing the local efforts of counsel networks in various jurisdictions nationwide. This role has entailed direction and support of local docket management, motions practice, trial efforts and claims resolution programs.
Jim’s experience has included development and presentation of fact and expert witnesses; depositions and court appearances; management and preparation of written discovery in numerous state and federal courts; development of thematic trial defense materials from analysis of clients’ historical records; litigation support and analysis in the context of personal injury claims forecasting and other aspects of bankruptcy proceedings; and live trial analysis and reporting in both tort system litigation and bankruptcy proceedings.
